This reproduction sampler's perfection lies in its imperfections. Stitched by a 9-year-old British child, this sampler's few missing letters, the unevenness of each of the lines of the alphabet, and the asymmetrical misplacement of some of the motifs show that Mary Carr was still learning her craft. As you stitch, you will experience the sheer joy this little girl must have felt creating something so simple, but so beautiful, for the world to enjoy.

Cross stitch is primarily used throughout, with the exception of one row of silk stitches and two rows of eyelet stitches. My design includes instructions so that you can easily learn these two stitches even if you are a novice!

This is the digital - pdf - version of Mary Carr 1803*. Once you purchase the pattern an email will be sent to you that will contain a link to download a pdf copy of the design. Nothing will be mailed to you.

Your pattern purchase includes a pdf with the following:

  • a pattern cover page
  • an instruction page detailing the threads, linen, and other relevant information
  • a pattern in both color and black and white
  • a pattern of the full cross stitch pattern on one page that you can use on your phone or tablet for digital reading

*If you prefer a physical copy of this chart, please see the cross stitch pattern section of my shop. If you have any questions, please let me know prior to purchase as I do not offer refunds on digital content.
